Kylian Mbappe has been advised to reject Real Madrid and stay where he is at Paris Saint-Germain by the Parisians' former goalkeeper Bernard Lama.

Lama, who played over 250 times for PSG and was involved in France's 1998 World Cup winning squad, has revealed that he "isn't sure he'll [Mbappe] leave Paris at the end of the season."

The Frechman's current contract at PSG expires next summer, which means he is able to talk to other clubs from January onwards, and leave for free in 2022, but Lama isn't convinced that departing the club is the best thing to do.

According to Marca, the former shot-stopper said: "I'd advise him to stay on for a few more years, because he has dreams to fulfil and one of those is to take part in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

"He's still at the start of his career, he's well advised and shouldn't rush. He's already a global star and, in a few years, without [Lionel] Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, he'll be the star of world football."

Interest from Real Madrid

Real Madrid have made it clear that Mbappe is one of their priority transfer targets, and they are reported to have had a bid turned down in the summer.

However, the Spanish side will soon be able to begin talks with Mbappe over a possible contract beginning next summer.

He has been at PSG since leaving Monaco in 2017, initially on loan, and has established himself as a key part of the club as well as the French national team during that time.

If PSG aren't able to tie Mbappe down to a new deal before the New Year, then losing him for free is a real possibility.

It had seemed inevitable that he would leave, but Lama isn't so sure, and recommends that he continues to develop in France.
