Barcelona have completed their second signing of the January transfer window with the capture of 17-year-old winger Fabio Blanco, according to reports in Spain.

Blanco is a former Valencia youngster who left the club this past summer in order to join Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, after just six months in Germany, he has already returned to Spain.

Barca have paid a small fee, according to Sport, in order bring Spain Under-19 international Blanco to the Camp Nou.

Blanco will join Barcelona B team initially but will have the opportunity – like many other youngsters have done this season and last – to gain a promotion to Xavi’s senior side.

The likes of Pedri, Gavi, Nico Gonzalez and recently Ez Abde have all flourished after being promoted to the senior side.

Blanco is Barcelona’s second signing of the January 2022 transfer window and the winter market has still not yet opened.

Ferran Torres signing

On Tuesday, Barcelona officially announced the signing of Manchester City attacker Ferran Torres.

The Blaugrana paid €55 million plus €10m in add-ons for the forward, who signed a five-year contract at the Etihad.

The 21-year-old emerged as Barcelona's primary transfer target for the January window as Xavi was keen to bolster his forward line heading into the second half of the season.

The Blaugrana are in a terrible state financially - and there had been reports earlier on Tuesday that the transfer may collapse - but they have constructed a deal that includes variables to be paid at a later date.

With Sergio Aguero forced to retire and Luuk de Jong and Martin Braithwaite allegedly not valued as first-team players at Barca by Xavi, Barca's need for a centre-forward has been clear this campaign.
