Barcelona have agreed a deal with Galatasaray to break their duck on transfer deadline day.

Goalkeeper Inaki Pena will leave the Camp Nou to join the Turkish side on loan until the end of the season after being deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Xavi.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly close to joining the Blaugrana, but a deal is still yet to be agreed between the club and Arsenal. Ousmane Dembele could also be on his way out of Barcelona, although, similar to Aubameyang's arrival, nothing has been officially announced so far.

The loaning of Pena to Galatasaray signals the beginning of Barcelona's deadline day dealings.

According to a statement by the club, Galatasaray will pay the player's wages, which eases the financial burden on Xavi' team, while an option to make the deal permanent in the summer hasn't been included in the contract.

Pena is yet to make his first-team debut at Barcelona, but has played over 60 times for their B side, who currently compete in the third tier of Spanish football. He also has one cap for Spain's U21 side, added to six for their U19 team.

The player joined Barcelona in 2012, and was part of the U14 side that won the league in his debut year at the club.

Pena joins a Galatasaray team who currently sit 15th in the Super Lig, three points above the relegation zone.

It leaves Xavi with Marc Andre-ter Stegen and Neto as his two senior goalkeeper options.

Deadline Day Incomings

Aubameyang is the player most likely to join Barcelona on deadline day. The Gabon international forward hasn't played for Arsenal following a disciplinary issue in late 2021, but Barcelona are in advanced talks over a move.

He would join Ferran Torres and Adama Traore as fellow forward reinforcements at the club this January. A deal is yet to be agreed, however.
