PSG ready record contract to keep Mbappe from Real Madrid
Paris Saint-Germain are in talks with Kylian Mbappe to make the star striker the best-paid player in the world game.
Mbappe is out of contract in June and is being hunted by Real Madrid, but PSG remain eager to tie the forward down to fresh terms.
The World Cup winner’s value to PSG has been apparent all season, with the 22-year-old scoring 22 goals and creating 16 more.
He has developed a reputation as being a player able to produce the goods at clutch moments in key games. After scoring a stoppage-time winner against Rennes last weekend in Ligue 1, he capped a memorable performance against Real Madrid with a wonderful goal after 90 minutes were up in the Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday.
According to a report in The Independent, PSG are ready to offer Mbappe terms that could come close to £1 million per week (€1.2m) to sign a new deal.
Will Mbappe accept this offer?
Mbappe has previously said that he will not leave PSG for free and he has never closed the door on signing fresh terms with the club, despite the ongoing rumours of a move to Real Madrid.
However, the widespread belief if that Mbappe has his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu.
One possibility that has been mooted in France is that he signs another short-term deal with PSG, perhaps two or three years long, and is sold to Real Madrid in the future.
Despite Madrid’s financial muscle, they will not be able to offer a package remotely close to the one that the Parisians are offering, so their bid will be based around the player’s emotional attachment to the club.
Tuesday’s Champions League defeat by PSG will be a worry for Real Madrid, as they were outplayed by their hosts comprehensively, which was hardly the advert they would have wished for attracting Mbappe to the club.
