The lawyer who famously helped broker Luis Figo’s sensational transfer from Barcelona to Real Madrid in 2000 says that the Blancos will sign both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

High-flying international lawyer Vicente Montes played a pivotal role in Figo’s controversial move across the Clasico divide that ensured the bitter rivalry between Barca and Madrid reached unprecedented levels.

And the well-connected Montes, who knows Madrid president Florentino Perez well after working with him on that deal, is expecting not one but two blockbuster arrivals at the Santiago Bernabeu again this summer.

What did Montes say?

"I'd bet everything that Perez has got Mbappe signed already," Montes told Marca.

"As for Haaland, I know Manchester City want a No.9 after the fiasco with Harry Kane in 2021, and they look very strong financially.

“But yes I think Perez will sign Haaland too.”

Mbappe’s move from PSG to Madrid is already widely considered to be as good as done.

Mbappe’s contract at PSG expires in June and he has repeatedly rejected offers of an extension.

The World Cup hero was involved in the biggest transfer saga of the summer in 2021 as he attempted to push through a move to Madrid.

The transfer didn’t go through but it has for some months now been accepted that Mbappe will move to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season on a Bosman.

And Madrid are also considered the favourites to sign Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Haaland is set to leave Dortmund at the end of the season when a €75 million release clause is activated in his contract.

Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona are the three main teams vying for his signature, although FootballTransfers understands that the Blaugrana have now pulled out of the race to buy Haaland.
