Bayern 'outraged' by Barcelona's pursuit of Lewandowski
Barcelona are chasing the summer signing of Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski with the Poland international's contract entering its final year, but he won't come easily.
While Lewandowski is keen on a move to the Camp Nou according to reports, Bayern are desperate to keep of him. The 33-year-old has already scored 47 goals this season, which marks the fourth season in a row he's notched at least 40 strikes in all competitions.
Bayern are closing in on a 10th consecutive Bundesliga triumph, but it may be Lewandowski's last as Barcelona are heavily interested in a move.
The Blaugrana have been operating on a tight budget over the past 12 months due to financial troubles, which has meant Lionel Messi was let go for free and Antoine Griezemann was loaned back to Atletico Madrid.
However, they have utilised the free transfer market well, picking up the likes of Memphis Depay and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang using this method.
Aubemeyang has hit the ground running in Spain, but Barcelona are still reportedly keen on adding fresh blood to their forward line, and Lewandowski is top of the list.
Will Bayern sell to Barcelona?
As mentioned the former Borussia Dortmund hitman only has one year left on his current Bayern deal, and that coupled with age has put his price tag lower than his talent would demand.
But, Bayern are reportedly "outraged" by Barcelona disrupting their plans to renew Lewandowski's contract and the fact they are planning to offer a sum of between £30-35m this summer, according to Sport. Lewandowski is said to have wanted a longer-term contract at the Allianz Arena, but Bayern want to offer a one-year extension instead.
The German giants do value Lewandowski highly and although the offer Barca are considering would ensure they earn a profit on the player, after signing him on a free transfer, they don't think Barcelona can actually afford a move for Lewandowski this summer given their financial situation.
Instead they are prioritising their own negotiations with Lewandowski, but won't steer away from their usual contractual stance just to keep hold of the prolific forward.
