This summer will bring another dispute between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, as the French club have gone to the Court of Arbitration for Sport over the compensation of midfielder Kays Ruiz-Atil.

According to L’Equipe, the two clubs have been summoned to the CAS on 1 June of this year, as the French club seek compensation over the player’s move to the Spanish club last year.

Ruiz-Atil moved to Barcelona last year after refusing a professional contract with Paris Saint-Germain, having joined them in 2015.

Prior to that, Ruiz-Atil was at Barcelona’s academy, having joined them at the age of seven and this long story is set to conclude this summer at court.

Interestingly, Ruiz-Atil only left Barcelona last week, with his contract being terminated, and the Lyon-native has been approached by several Ligue 1 clubs.

Ruiz-Atil previously asked to leave the club in the winter transfer window, having struggled to make an impact there due to injury, and his wish was finally granted as he was released from his three-year contract.

What has previously happened between PSG and Barcelona?

Barcelona and PSG meeting in court will be the latest installment to a series of disputes that have taken place between the two clubs over the last few years.

It started off with the controversial transfer of Neymar and arguments of payments, the manner of the transfer and a war of words between the PSG hierarchy and former Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu.

That issue only came to an end last July after an out-of-court agreement, with Neymar and Barcelona reaching a settlement over a renewal bonus the player claims he was due when he was in Spain.

"Barcelona have ended out of court in amicable fashion the various labour and civil litigation cases that were open with the Brazilian player Neymar,” Barcelona claimed in a statement.

"As such, a transactional agreement between the club and the player has been signed to end the legal cases that were pending between the two parties," it continued.

This dispute won’t be as long as the one surrounding Neymar, but it’s clear that the two clubs still have frosty relations.
