Barcelona youngster Vitor Roque is already growing frustrated by his lack of first-team action at Camp Nou and could even to depart the club in the summer, such is his unhappiness.

Vitor Roque was rushed to the club in January for €40 million – the biggest deal of the month – in order to give the Catalans a boost for the second half of the season.

He has featured nine times for Barcelona, scoring two goals, yet he has mustered just 198 minutes of action. Adding to his frustration is that he has started just one game.

Sport reported, meanwhile, that Roque is puzzled as to why Xavi has been reticent to use him when Barca have been chasing a goal.

One example of this came at the weekend as Barcelona were held to a scoreless draw against Athletic Club. The 19-year-old failed to get a single minute in that game. Similarly, he was frozen out of the extra-time loss against the same opponents in the Copa del Rey in January.

TodoFichajes goes one step further, indicating that the player is open to leaving the club.

“The player’s entourage does not understand why he has been used so infrequently, nor that during many games in which Barcelona desperately searched for a goal he was not allowed on the field of play,” the report states.

“We can confirm that the player… is really displeased and is even considering a loan for the summer market.”

Vitor Roque is reportedly concerned about the pathway that Barcelona are offering him, which is unclear, and could leave for another European team or make his way back to Brazil on a temporary basis.

Such a move would come as a major surprise given the money that Barca have invested in the youngster, who was not even scheduled to arrive at the club until the summer.

Roque has been a victim of Robert Lewandowski’s resurgence. Prior to Christmas, the Pole was in lamentable form but the No.9 is already up to nine goals in all competitions in 2024.

His time will surely come, though, if he shows patience.
