Mbappe was announced as a Real Madrid player on Monday, bringing an end to a year of speculation that he would join the Bernabeu club.

But the saga continues to drag on as the pair exchange increasingly bitter public statements.

Mbappe, 25, ignited the media with comments made before the midweek friendly with Luxembourg on Wednesday.

Speaking at a France national team media conference, he said: “When I know what I had to go through and endure, this is the best season of my career. They made me understand, they said it to my face, they spoke to me violently, they also told me through the media. Luis Enrique and Luis Campos saved me. I wouldn't have set foot on the field again without them.”

PSG reacted to this statement via an anonymous source via AFP that was published on Tuesday.

“Mbappe has absolutely no class,” the source said. “PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi never dictated the slightest decision to the team. Luis Enrique even said it himself, but despite everything, Mbappe says something and everyone prints it as if it were the truth.”

PSG double down on Mbappe criticism

In L’Equipe, another statement from PSG has appeared.

“It’s just disrespectful to say that once he’s announced his new club. He certainly forgets that he spent seven years here and everything was done for him. He forgets his repeated requests, which were granted,” the statement says.

“This is further confirmation for us that the collective project we are now carrying out is the right one.”

PSG had previously told Mbappe that he had an open door to return to the club whenever he wished. It now appears that is doubtful, at least while Al-Khelaifi is around.
