Kylian Mbappe officially became a Real Madrid player on 1 July, but the Champions League winners are still struggling to cope with the arrival of the France international striker.

Mbappe’s signing announcement broke the official website of Los Blancos, and now that his jersey is finally up for sale, the former PSG ace continues to give the staff of the LaLiga club headaches.

The 25-year-old’s jersey, which was only released on 11 July as the player’s status as the club’s No.9 had not officially been unveiled, is selling faster than Real Madrid can keep up with demand.

While there is normally a three- or four-day delivery delay on jerseys, such has been the clamour from fans to get their hands on an Mbappe shirt, that it is taking four to six weeks to deliver.

Real Madrid supporters hoping to their hands on a jersey before Mbappe’s presentation at the Bernabeu on 16 July are, therefore, likely to be disappointed.

There are more than 80,000 fans expected for the event, which will interrupt the player’s holiday before he breaks again following Euro 2024.

When will Mbappe make his Real Madrid debut?

Mbappe is likely to make his debut for Real Madrid on 14 August in the European Super Cup against Atalanta in Warsaw, AS reports, although he is likely to be quite short of both fitness and sharpness for that event.

He is not expected to report for training with his new club until after the team returns from a US training camp.

In principle, he is expected back at work on 8 August, once the club’s pre-season programme has been completed.

His nose injury could be a complication if he needs surgery, but Real Madrid are confident that Mbappe will be able to return to training without such an issue.
