Revelo have reported on Los Blancos' issues at right-back, stating that the club are in the need to bolster the position, with the Liverpool defender a major target.

However, the site has stressed that any such move for Alexander-Arnold will not happen during the forthcoming January transfer window.

The outlet stated: "There is only one certainty: the most obvious name for the right-back position is Alexander-Arnold, whose contract with Liverpool expires in July 2025. A strategic signing, which is progressing step by step. However, it would not be an operation for the month of January, although some voices at Real Madrid are asking for it."

It's thought that Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is now looking to the club's youth squad to help with the injury concerns, especially with Dani Carvajal on the sidelines. Academy graduate Jesus Fortea, a right-back, has been promoted to first-team training and could feature.

Over the course of the last few months, Real Madrid have been extensively linked to the defender. A report from CaughtOffside suggested that the Reds will offer a contract worth a staggering €90 million.

It will be a five-year contract with a salary of €17-18m per season. His contract at Anfield expires in 2025. Real Madrid have been long-term admirers of Alexander-Arnold and see him as a long-term replacement to the veteran Carvajal. They wish to sign him on a free transfer next summer.

Fabrizio Romano provided the latest update on Alexander-Arnold’s situation last month, confirming that Madrid are trying to sign the player but says it is not certain he will leave Liverpool.

What did Romano say?

“As of today, Liverpool deny to have any communication from the player or his camp that he is not going to accept the contract,” Romano said.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold remains in contact with Liverpool and he’s talking to Liverpool. Then, Real Madrid are there, they will be there, they have been there for months, since March, working on Trent Alexander-Arnold as a dream target.

"They are monitoring the situation. Real Madrid when there is a top player like Trent potentially available as a free agent they are always very attentive. This is what they’re doing. Let’s see when and if they’ll make contact.

“What I’m hearing is that to think about a January transfer is really complicated,” Romano added. “We had these kinds of rumours but I don’t see that at the moment, this is not something realistic.

“What we can say is that he remains top of the list for Real Madrid as right-back. But it depends what happens with Liverpool. As of today Trent didn’t tell Liverpool ‘I’m leaving’.”
