Real Madrid are prepared to part ways with David Alaba and Eder Militao in a move that would totally change the defence of the Bernabeu side.

The club's board is concerned about the ongoing injury problems that the two defenders have suffered. As a result, they are prepared to listen to offers in the summer transfer window.

Militao, 26, arrived from Porto in the summer of 2019 for €50 million and has become a key player. However, due to frequent injuries, especially to his knee, Real Madrid have raised doubts about his physical condition. There are fears that the large number of injuries could affect the Brazilian's performance in the long term.

Alaba joined on a free transfer from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2021 and has also performed excellently in the Spanish capital. However, the 32-year-old Austrian tore his cruciate ligament at the end of last year and has been unable to play for Los Blancos since then. This has also caused doubts among the club's management about his place in the future.

Van Dijk and Tah targeted

Real Madrid are already looking at possible replacements for the two defenders and have put Virgil van Dijk on their shortlist list. The 33-year-old Dutchman has an expiring contract with Liverpool and is still negotiating an extension, although the signs are that he will remain with the Anfield side.

Marca previously reported that the 78-times international is considered a dream reinforcement for the Spanish top club.

Jonathan Tah is also mentioned as a possible reinforcement for Carlo Ancelotti's team. The 28-year-old defender has an expiring contract with Bayer Leverkusen. However, the Madrid team are not the only ones who are keeping an eye on the Germany international: arch-rivals Barcelona have also targeted him as a summer addition. Bayern Munich have also been following Tah's performance for some time.
