Barcelona turn their back on Rashford to make transfer hijack
Barcelona appear to be losing hope of signing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United before the end of the January transfer window and are examining other targets.
According to reports in Spain, Hansi Flick’s side are seeking to secure a deal for Feyenoord attacker Santiago Gimenez.

Although the Mexico international is thought to be close to a move to AC Milan, Barcelona are looking at other options in attack as Robert Lewandowski’s heir, Vitor Roque, has failed to fire since arriving in Spain a year ago. Indeed, he has been moved out on loan to Real Betis, who have been unimpressed with his form.
Feyenoord want €50 million for Gimenez, which is a price that is described as being “considerable but feasible” for Barcelona.
In particular, the Mexican will not command a wage like Rashford, which is one of the major obstacles preventing the England star from completing a January loan move from Man Utd.
It is stated that talks have not started between the clubs, but the 23-year-old attacker has been put at the top of Barcelona’s transfer shortlist.

Milan favourites for Gimenez
Gimenez still looks likeliest to wind up with AC Milan. De Telegraaf indicated that Feyenoord are close to an agreement with the Italian side over the transfer for the attacker.
The Rossoneri are thought to have matched Feyenoord’s asking price, with the 32-time capped international having already agreed personal terms with the club.
Furthermore, Gimenez appears to be pushing for a move.
“According to sources close to the player himself, Gimenez indicated the day after Feyenoord lost 6-1 to Lille in France, where he quickly left the field due to a slight physical discomfort, that he wants to leave for AC Milan," journalist Marcel van der Kraan explained.
“Gimenez has received so much other advice from his agent, family, AC Milan great Zlatan Ibrahimovic and other people around him that he no longer seems open to stay. He finds the risk of saying no to another million-dollar transfer too great.”
Gimenez has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €25.8m.
