Real Madrid are 'wrong' as Vini Jr’s new contract sparks Mbappe tension

Real Madrid have been told that they are “wrong” to hand Vinicius Junior a new long-term contract, with warnings about a potential split with Kylian Mbappe.
Los Blancos are expected to fight off competition from the Saudi Pro League to give the Brazil international a new deal, despite the board at the club growing frustrated with the attitude of the player.
This sense has been echoed by fans, who are unhappy with the perceived petulance of Vini Jr, who has been in misfiring form lately as Real Madrid have struggled.
While the player has been told it’s the right decision to commit his future to the Bernabeu giants, the club has been warned that it’s making an error.
Journalist Julio Pulido told Cadena SER: “I think Vinicius is right to stay, it would be a mistake to go to Saudi Arabia at this point in his career and at his age.
“But I think Real Madrid are wrong, because the Madrid of the future is not based on Vinicius. This Vinicius who gets angry, who gets annoyed and who becomes less and less important on the pitch, for me.
“That's where the figure of Mbappe emerges. And this idea that I have is more widespread than we think. I hear more and more voices from madridistas who are fed up with the figure of Vinicius and all this noise.”

Who is Real Madrid’s leader?
Mbappe arrived last summer as a free agent but has struggled to gel with Vini Jr on the field, with both preferring to play off the left side of the pitch. As such, neither has been at their best and Real Madrid have suffered.
Tension is expected to grow between the players thanks to Vini’s new deal.
“There was a leadership problem: do you give the team to Vinicius Junior or Mbappe?” Miguel Martin Talavera explained.
“Mbappe didn’t take it, didn’t know how to take it, and this extension brings Vinicius closer to this leadership status. The thing will be to see how Mbappe reacts.”
