Barcelona have gradually pulled away from financial oblivion under Joan Laporta.

The activation of 'financial levers' has helped the Blaugrana get back on solid economic footing and the club no longer need to fear about their immediate future.

Barcelona still need to be wary of LaLiga's stringent spending cap, but the days of the club having to pinch pennies and trying to circumvent financial regulations to register players are hopefully over.

As such, Barcelona have shifted their attention towards tying their key players down to long-term contracts in a bid to secure the long-term stability of one of Europe's most distinguished sides.
