Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly instructed Carlo Ancelotti to stop playing Marco Asensio in an attempt to force the player into leaving the club.

The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his contract and has failed to find a new club so far this summer despite being surplus to requirements at Madrid.

Asensio is said to be disappointed by his treatment by the club and feels his absence from recent matches is a political rather than sporting decision, having only played eight minutes from Real's first three games.

The winger was Real's third-top scorer last season and has previously turned down a contract extension from the club as he is seeking first-team football ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

Asensio has hired 'superagent' Jorge Mendes to assist him in finding a new club and Perez has told Ancelotti that he cannot play if he does not want to renew his contract, according to El Confidencial.

Is Asensio on his way out of Madrid?

Asensio is believed to have a host of teams chasing his signature but Real have reportedly put a €50 million price tag on him which has seemingly put teams off.

However, it is believed that the Spaniard will leave Madrid before the end of the transfer window, with AC Milan and AS Roma the most interested in signing him.

Ancelotti has previously spoken of Perez's influence in his book 'Calm Leadership' where he described being asked by the club president to change Gareth Bale's position in the team.

“The CEO told me that the president wanted to talk to me," Ancelotti said. "When I went to his office he told me that Bale's agent had called him and that Gareth wanted to play more in the centre.

"My answer was negative, I couldn't change the game system in the middle of the season. Since then, my relationship with the president has not been the same.”
