Gavi, Memphis and Alonso: Five pieces of key business Barca want to complete this week
Barcelona have had a busy transfer window thus far, signing five players since the start of the summer, seeing a few go, and they’re probably not done yet.
There could still be some important pieces of business to be completed in the coming week, as they begin their campaign with a clash against Rayo Vallecano at the weekend.
Much of the talk around the club this week has been around their financial state, with the club still unable to register new players for the start of the season.
However, Barcelona are still working hard behind the scenes to get at least one new player to join, and may see a few others leave in the coming days.
One to arrive, few to go at Barcelona
Marcos Alonso is on top of the list, and he’s set to move from Chelsea, with Blues boss Thomas Tuchel confirming that the Spaniard is set for a move.
Other than that, it’s set to be a frantic week of departures, with several faces expected to leave the Camp Nou in the coming days as Barcelona look to trim their squad.
Martin Braithwaite, Memphis Depay and Samuel Umtiti are on the verge at the club, with the trio told that their minutes in the first-team will be limited.
Braithwaite has attracted plenty of interest from La Liga clubs, while Depay and Umtiti will have to move away from Spain to continue their careers elsewhere.
Depay has had interest from the likes of Juventus and Tottenham, while Umtiti may make a return to Ligue 1, but there are doubts over his long-term fitness.

There may also be an extension on the horizon, as youngster Gavi could extend his contract at the club and confirm his commitment for the long run.
The player just turned 18, and Barcelona planned talks with his representatives once he became an adult, with those conversations set to conclude in the coming days.
Gavi has a year left on his current deal and has attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Liverpool, but is set to commit his future to the Blaugrana.
