Barcelona ready to complete January transfer for Bernardo Silva
Barcelona were keen to sign Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva throughout the summer, but were unable to get a deal done for the player before the transfer deadline.
The club signed some top players from across Europe including Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde and more, but had to miss out on Silva for a variety of reasons.
They are still troubled by financial issues, and had complications registering players, hence why a move for the playmaker proved to be difficult, but they are still keeping an eye on his situation in England.
Silva is still a top target for Barcelona and the Catalan club aren’t giving up on him, with an intention to come back for the Portuguese star in the January transfer window.
Barcelona keen on Silva
According to Sport, Xavi is still keen having Silva in his side, with the manager being a big admirer of the player and wants to see him play at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona didn’t have the funds to sign Silva and there was a belief that they would be able to make a move for him had Frenkie de Jong been sold, but that didn’t happen either.
Manchester City were open to negotiating with Barcelona over a deal, and Silva himself was keen on a transfer as it takes him closer to his home country and the fact that the Blaugrana are his dream club.

Silva only realized at the end of the transfer window that a deal to take him to Catalonia would not be possible in the summer and that he would have to wait until 2023 for a transfer to happen.
Barcelona recently learned that their salary cap had increased and several players are set to leave upon the end of their contracts this season, giving them more spending power.
That works well in their favour, giving them a chance to sign Silva next year and the Portuguese star won’t come in cheap, especially given that he’s important to Manchester City.
