How much is Barcelona target Hugo Guillamon’s release clause?
In spite of their spendthrift summer transfer window Barcelona are planning further activity when the market opens again in January.
The centre of midfield has become a huge concern for the Catalans, in particular the position currently occupied by stalwart anchorman Sergio Busquets.
Busquets has turned in a number of disappointing performances this season and Barca are ready to relegate their long-time midfielder to the bench should they find the right player to replace him this winter.
Valencia's Hugo Guillamon is one such player who is of interest to those in charge at Camp Nou.
Guillamon, 22, has been closely watched as he has impressed for Los Che, adapting from the centre-back role to midfield with ease and starting all but one of their La Liga outings to date.
He has also caught the eye of Luis Enrique and has picked up three Spain caps to date, while still having a chance of making the Roja's World Cup squad next month.
How much would Guillamon cost Barca?
Landing the youngster, however, will not be a simple matter.
Guillamon remains under contract at Mestalla until June 2026, and Valencia would be loathe to give up one of their top prospects to their rivals.
Nor has the player himself shown any inclination of wanting a move away, telling club media recently: "I have always said it: Valencia is my home.
"I am very happy here and have always shown it. It would be great to spend my whole career here.
"I am so happy to renew [my contract], to stay here many years more and I am sure together we will reach our goals."
To get their man, then, Barca may have to meet his release clause, valued at a hefty €50 million - and further adding to the outgoings in a year which has already seen Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde join the club for huge fees.
