Barcelona completed the signing of Ferran Torres from Manchester City back in January, but they still owe the English champions a lot of the transfer fee they agreed to pay.

The two clubs agreed to a €55 million fee in the winter transfer window of last season and Torres has played for the Blaugrana on a regular basis, but Barcelona have barely paid Manchester City for him.

The Catalan club had a busy transfer window, signing several players including Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde and others, achieved through the activation of economic levers.

Now, according to a report from Laia Tudel of Catalunya Radio, there is a problem on Barcelona’s hands as they have to pay off their debts to clubs they signed players from.

Barcelona owe big sums to several clubs

Out of the €55 million fee agreed for Torres, Barcelona have only paid a total of €3 million, with €52 million still owed to the Premier League holders.

Manchester City aren’t the only club that are owed money by Barcelona as earlier in the week, it was reported that Ajax were also owed money for the signings of Frenkie de Jong in 2019 and Sergino Dest in 2020.

The fee due to Ajax is a total of €42 million: €32 million of which goes towards De Jong’s signing and the rest of the €10 million is for the move for Dest.

Other than that, Juventus and Liverpool are also reportedly owed money for the big money moves for Miralem Pjanic and Philippe Coutinho respectively, giving the Blaugrana a big bill.

Fees owed out amount to €36 million for Pjanic’s move, while Liverpool are owed €14 million for Coutinho, who has since been at the likes of Bayern Munich and Aston Villa.

In the case of Torres, he has had a decent Barcelona career so far and is hoping to take it to another level after his impressive Champions League display against Viktoria Plzen recently, where he scored and assisted a goal each.
