Inter defender Milan Skriniar’s future is up in the air, as his contract is set to run out at the end of the season and the club are open to selling him in the January transfer window if he doesn’t renew.

Skriniar was of heavy interest to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window but a move never materialized for the player as the French champions were unwilling to meet the asking price.

Inter were looking to get about €70 million for the Slovakian defender in the summer window, but that demand may decrease significantly in January if they are unable to extend his contract for a longer period.

Now, it’s emerged that Skriniar would turn down any advances that came from Barcelona, one of the clubs interested in taking him upon the expiry of his deal.

Skriniar to reject Barcelona

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Skriniar is not considering the option of signing for Barcelona, and would rather move to Paris Saint-Germain or renew his deal at Inter.

With Gerard Pique’s contract running out and the Catalan defender set to leave the club, there is space for another defender at the Camp Nou, but that defender may not be Skriniar as he would reject their advances.

PSG are still strongly interested in bringing him over to the French capital in the future, and a move to the French champions interests Skriniar more.

Other clubs are also interested in approaching Skriniar with regards to a future move, such as Manchester United and Chelsea, however, nothing is concrete at the minute.

Inter will demand around €25 million from any club that wishes to sign Skriniar in the January transfer window if they are unable to extend his deal beyond June 2023 by then.

They are set to propose a new contract offer to him in order to avoid losing the Slovakian on a free, and ideally would like to keep him having seen how important he is to their side over the years.
