However, he hasn’t been starting many games as Xavi, being in the first XI just three times over the course of the La Liga campaign so far as Barcelona sit top.

In the time he has been given, he has impressed, showing the form that earned him such a great reputation and got him a place in the Spain squad for the World Cup.

However, his father is not happy with the way he has been managed and wants to see him play more over the course of the season.

Ansu Fati is apparently ready

Bori Fati, his father, believes Barcelona boss Xavi does not need to be cautious with his son’s fitness and he can play games more regularly from here on out.

He thinks his son is ready for regular game time across all competitions and that his injury problems are a thing of the past for the youngster.

“The knee injury has been forgotten for a long time. His problem was muscular and a relapse in the hamstrings but since June Ansu has not stopped training and playing,” he said.

“Physically he is fine. People see that he does not start but it’s because he needs to keep playing, to have minutes. And we’re used to him always scoring goals and when he doesn’t score, it seems like it’s wrong.”

Fati has struggled with fitness issues for much of the last two seasons and Xavi wanted to be cautious with him to avoid wasting a career of great potential.

He was careful with him after he wasn’t picked in Spain’s last squad and has worked with him to ensure he goes to the World Cup, which he has now achieved.
