Barcelona set to miss out on €23m target to Arsenal
Barcelona are set to miss out on a core midfield target as Arsenal are set to complete the singing of Youri Tielemans from Leicester City in the January transfer window.
Barcelona were identifying Tielemans as an option for their midfield as they are set to lose Sergio Busquets at the end of the season.
The Blaugrana are often in the market for free transfers and it’s not a surprise given their strict financial condition where they can’t spend as much as they’d like.
That has left them in a battle with clubs for several players, and that has been the case with Arsenal and Tielemans, and they look destined to miss out on the Belgian.

Arsenal are set to make a final push to sign Youri Tielemans from Leicester City in the transfer window next month and are willing to pay a €23 million fee, according to Sport.
Barcelona to miss out on Tielemans
Arsenal have been interested in the Belgian for a while and have been looking to add more midfield depth to their squad as they look for reinforcements ahead of the second half of the season.
Tielemans is in the final months of his contract at Leicester City and he is free to speak to overseas club for a potential free transfer next month.

It’s always been noted that Leicester were hoping to get about £20 million for him in January, which is about half of what they paid for him to get him from Monaco in 2019.
Barcelona can’t fork out that some that early and are giving Arsenal a free run at the signing next month, with the focus being other players and other targets.
Arsenal were interested in Tielemans in the summer with Mikel Arteta keen to add another midfielder to his side, but they couldn’t get a deal done for him in time and decided to wait.
