Kylian Mbappe spurned Real Madrid to extend with Paris Saint-Germain in May, but Florentino Perez has privately admitted that the Spanish and European champions could move for him again.

Preparations for Mbappe's unveiling at the Santiago Bernabeu were already underway when the young forward made a U-turn, signing a new deal at the Parc des Princes which made him the best-paid sportsman in history.

But Mbappe has cut a frustrated figure at the Parc des Princes since, even if he left for the World Cup in Qatar with champions France with 19 goals in 20 games under his belt already this season.

Mbappe has struggled sharing the limelight with Neymar and Lionel Messi, but that is a dynamic the 23-year-old would have to get used to in Madrid with the "Galactico" era well and truly over.

Commercial and contractual restrictions

"In Madrid, there are no more stars or divas," write Defensa Central. "The attacker will have to comply with the club's rules around advertising and commercial opportunities which should serve Real's interests. Humility in that regard is non-negotiable.

"The second condition is also clear: there will be no contract that matches the €630 million that Mbappe will earn in Paris until 2025. If he wants to play for Madrid, he must do so within their salary structure without complaint."

Mbappe will still be 26 at the expiry of his current deal, so he has time on his side, and he won't come cheap if Real were to move for him before that point.

Mbappe is currently ranked as the most expensive player in world football at €147.3m per Football Transfers' in-house algorithm, and could yet have a second World Cup under his belt by the end of this month.

Mbappe has scored a tournament-best three goals in Qatar, a number he shares with Marcus Rashford, Cody Gakpo and Enner Valencia.
