The Blaugrana have had their fair share of financial issues in recent times and they have another problem to deal with after recent signings.

Barcelona have had their fair share of trouble with it and have faced sanctions in the past as well as a war of words with La Liga over the years.

And their trouble doesn’t stop there, as they’ve now got an €800,000 fine to deal with it based on contracts they handed out in the past financial year.

Barcelona sanctioned by La Liga

This has been reported by ARA based on three contracts they handed out in the 2021/22 season to players they signed in that season over the financial year.

One of those players is Dani Alves, who joined on the lowest possible wage at the end of 2021 but La Liga has deemed it to be a breach of league rules.

The club were also sanctioned for the signing of Danish defender Andreas Christensen, who signed on a free and although he was registered for his season, he’s considered a signing from the previous campaign.

The final sanction comes for Ronald Araujo’s contract extension, despite the fact that he agreed a deal a few months ago and this too is believed to be a break of La Liga’s FFP rules.

Barcelona have naturally appealed against all three sanctions and are seeking resolutions against each of them which could mean another battle between the club and Spanish top flight.

There has also been an update on their use of financial levers: Although Barcelona will able to utilise economic levers in order to generate revenue, only 5 percent of the fees can be used for transfers and contracts.
