The Blaugrana have seen their creativity slow down since the injury suffered by Pedri and want to avoid this problem in the future.

They are now targeting a move for Bernardo Silva, who has been of interest to them for several years and are planning a transfer in the summer.

Xavi’s side hope to complete a transfer for the player in the summer of this year and feel they could get a deal done.

Barcelona eyeing Silva move

According to Sport, Barcelona have their eyes set solely on the midfielder with a view to getting him to the Camp Nou.

They had the chance to get him last summer but weren’t able to complete a move as they were short on finances and could only complete the transfer if they sold Frenkie de Jong, which didn’t happen.

Silva has reportedly set his sights on leaving Manchester City in the summer and has asked the club to facilitate a departure from the Etihad Stadium.

He was keen to move last year as well as he wanted to be closer to his home country of Portugal having spent nearly six years in Manchester.

The Portuguese star also admires Barcelona and supported them as a child, largely due to his admiration for countryman Deco, who also played for the club in the past.

Barcelona would still have to sell players to fund a transfer for Silva as he won’t come in cheap and if they are unable to land him, they will look to move for his Manchester City team-mate Ilkay Gundogan, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Manchester City have previously stated they are open to letting any player leave if they want to go but will only sanction a sale at the right price.
