Real Madrid star Kroos breaks silence on Super League
Toni Kroos' Real Madrid are one of the primary drivers of the European Super League, with club president Florentino Perez its founding chairman.
Real Madrid are the reigning Spanish and European champions, but alongside Barcelona and Juventus, are working hard behind the scenes to wrest power and influence back from UEFA and, ultimately, England's Premier League.
Apart from Real, Paris Saint-German and some clubs in the Middle East, very few can compete with the financial might in England's top flight, with teams at the bottom end of that league still able to outbid Barca and most of Serie A.

Federer-Nadal example
"I think we'll see the Super League," he said on his latest podcast Einfach mal Luppen. "UEFA is by no means the good Samaritan for football fans.
"We've already spoken about the loss of passion for football. I believe the Super League has the chance to reverse that situation. People always say: 'who wants to see Real Madrid against Manchester City every week?' but have you got tired of watching [Roger] Federer against [Rafa] Nadal over and over? I haven't.

The Super League is back on the table after a new proposal that would see up to 80 teams involved in a multi-divisional format - although that would exclude English clubs. Inclusion would be based on performance rather than the guaranteed membership model put forward in April 2021.
Kroos thinks the new idea should be entertained at the very least.
"Why is it OK for UEFA to introduce a Nations League that no one needs?" he asked rhetorically. "No one asks them about it. I think it's incredibly important to listen to other proposals like the Super League. I get the feeling that we're no longer being listened to."
