Real Madrid are looking to hijack Barcelona’s summer move for Marcelo Brozovic.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Madrid have joined Barcelona and Chelsea in the race to sign the Inter Milan midfielder.

Barcelona and Inter had been in talks during the January transfer window to do a swap deal involving Brozovic and Franck Kessie, but were not able to get a deal over the line.

The negotiations are expected to be resurrected ahead of the summer - with Kessie having already given the green light to join Inter.

Brozovic has not yet agreed to a move to Barca but is listening to their offer.

And Gazzetta report that an offer could now arrive from not only Chelsea but Madrid also.

Madrid renew midfield

Madrid see the contracts expire this summer of veterans Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. There is no guarantee both will stay, meaning Madrid need to renew their central midfield.

Jude Bellingham has been the first choice target for midfield but his cost will be over €100 million, whereas Brozovic will be considerably cheaper.

Brozovic has been a key player for Inter in recent years but is now 30 and has suffered from increasing injury problems this season.

Inter also have financial problems and need to make a €60m profit via sales by June 30.

It is believed that Inter are open to sacrificing Brozovic, especially as Hakan Calhanoglu has been reinvented in the Croatian’s deep-lying role this season.
