As long as the transfer window has not yet slammed shut or Kylian Mbappe has officially put pen to paper on a new Paris Saint-Germain deal - though the latter is inching closer - rumours about an imminent move of the French star to Madrid will not go away.

Both Mbappe himself and Los Blancos president Florentino Perez have made it clear that the 24-year-old will not get his dream move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, and Carlo Ancelotti has now reiterated this position, though his sweeping statements may upset some Real Madrid fans.

Not because he made it clear that Mbappe won't join this summer - that was pretty obvious beforehand - but rather because he fully ruled out that there will be any more incomings this summer.

What did Ancelotti say?

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of Real's match against Celta Vigo, Ancelotti said: "I 100% rule out any arrivals before the end of the transfer window. I think we have completed the squad, all the players we have are focused on this season."

The Italian also spoke about Luka Modric, who has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia amid losing his starting berth in the side. "I think Luka has already chosen what he wants to do for the next year. It’s true that it’s an unusual situation for him where he’s not playing from the start in a particular time of the season where we only have one game a week."

"Obviously he’s not happy, but he’s very, very good physically, he can play and he can and will bring something to our team. It’s a peculiar situation for everyone, even me, that a player who is used to playing from the first minute is not playing but I am sure that he will add value this season."
