Barcelona confirm Joao Felix's HUGE pay cut
Barcelona have confirmed that Joao Felix took a huge wage cut to join the club on loan from Atletico Madrid for the 2023-24 season.
Felix, 23, fell out of favour under Diego Simeone and was loaned to Chelsea for the second-half of last campaign.
He returned to Atleti this summer, but immediately stated that it was his “dream” to join Barcelona. This naturally angered Atletico Madrid fans and he was frequently booed by supporters during the opening few La Liga games of the new season.

Felix sealed his “dream” move on Transfer Deadline Day when he joined Barca on a one-year loan deal.
Barcelona’s vice-president Eduard Romeu confirmed that Felix took a major wage cut to secure the transfer.
He told Spanish outlet L'Esportiu: “It’s true, Joao Felix has reduced his salary to €400,000 to join. It is the case of a person who has made a very important effort to join.

“It's very nice to see this from a guy who was probably not at his best at his club, but here he has been magnificent.
“Make no mistake about it, however, the club that gave Felix to us has an interest in this being a great showcase. Hopefully, at the end of the year, we will have the conflict of having to consider his continuity.”
Felix at Barcelona
Felix has now received an annual wage boost, however, according to The Daily Mail. His contract at Camp Nou stated that his salary would increase when Barcelona could afford it.
That has reportedly now happened and Felix's yearly wages are set to increase to €4 million for the rest of his loan move
However, his new salary is still miles lower than his reported €14.5m annual salary at Atletico Madrid.
Felix has scored three goals and provided three assists in eight appearances for Barcelona so far.
