Real Madrid stand to earn over €1 million through compensation after Vinicius Jr and Eduardo Camavinga injured themselves during the November international break.

Vinicius tore his thigh muscle on Brazil duty, while Camavinga injured his knee during training with France.

The pair are both set to miss around 10 weeks of action, with Carlo Ancelotti forced to cope without two key players as Real Madrid hope to overtake Girona and reclaim top spot in La Liga.

Although losing Vinicius and Camavinga is a huge blow, Los Blancos will at least benefit financially due to their long-term injuries. FIFA pays compensation to any club who loses a player for longer than 28 days if they are injured while on international duty.

The first 28 days of the pair’s injuries will not earn Real Madrid any money, but they will begin to rake in the euros after that time period ends.

Madrid will be able to claim €20,548 per day for a maximum of one year. Camavinga could miss eight weeks, which would earn Los Blancos €575,344, while that figure could rise to €863,016 if the Frenchman’s time on the sidelines extends to 10 weeks.

Vinicius is expected to miss 10 weeks so that second figure is correct for the Brazilian too. As a result, Real Madrid will earn at least €1.5m through the injuries suffered by Vinicius and Camavinga, as per 90min.

Will Real Madrid dip into the January market?

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Real Madrid don’t plan on signing short-term replacements for Vinicius or Camavinga during the January window.

He said: “Camavinga will be out until the end of 2023, so more than one month for Camavinga. The hope is [for him] to be available in January for the Super Cup against Atletico Madrid. This is going to be the mission for Real Madrid's staff."

"They're waiting for the test, they're waiting for a final decision to understand how the condition of Vinicius is, but also in this case there is the possibility to see Vinicius out for some time.

“The idea at Real Madrid, at the moment, at the current stage of the situation is not to do anything in the January transfer window."

"Despite the new problem of Camavinga, Vinicius Jr and the other players, the idea of Real Madrid is still the same: staying with the same team until the end of the season and then do something in the summer.

“Endrick is going to join in the summer, full-backs are also on the list and we know that for Real Madrid it's going to be an important summer.”
