Real Madrid have reportedly asked Alphonso Davies not to extend his Bayern Munich contract as they seek to manufacture a deal for the summer, according to a report.

The Bayern left-back, one of the best in the world in his position, is still facing an uncertain future. Though the German giants are desperate to get him to sign a new deal, talks have hit an impasse. Davies is under contract until 2025, which means that Bayern will have to sell in the summer should they fail to agree fresh terms.

Real Madrid have been lurking for some time. Los Blancos see Davies as the ideal solution to the left-back problem that has persisted since the departure of the legendary Marcelo and the Canadian would be relatively affordable at €50 million.

Recent reports in Spain have claimed that Davies must choose between money or glory as the 23-year-old could earn more of the former elsewhere, with Real Madrid not ready to blow up their wage structure. This was also the case for Jude Bellingham and he chose glory.

Real's Davies request

Davies' decision is still up in the air, but Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg has revealed fresh details of Los Blancos' pursuit. According to the journalist, Real Madrid chiefs are in regular contact with the Canadian's agent.

"Real Madrid definitely wants him," Plettenberg wrote on X. "He’s the desired left-back target next summer! A departure in the summer is possible. Generally, though, Davies feels comfortable at Bayern but Real Madrid is pushing."

Plettenberg also alleges that the Spanish giants specifically asked Davies not to extend his Bayern deal, though it is not clear if this is truly the reason behind the contract negotiations stalling. Should Bayern manage to agree a new deal with Davies, he would likely become unattainable for Real Madrid for the foreseeable future.
