‘A circus!’ – Barcelona fans RAGE after Xavi sack bombshell
Xavi will be sacked by Barcelona at the end of the season, according to numerous reports.
President Joan Laporta has taken the decision to part with his head coach following comments made prior to a LaLiga clash against Almeria.
Xavi claimed it will be impossible for Barcelona to compete with Real Madrid and other top European clubs due to their financial problems.

After leading the club to LaLiga last season, the legendary midfield will likely guide them to second this time around – the minimum requirement for the Blaugrana.
Meanwhile, Xavi also steered the club to the Champions League quarter-finals, a not insignificant achievement following recent disappointments in Europe.
The 44-year-old had initially said he would stand down from the post at the end of the year before a recent change of heart. However, he is not set to get the option of seeing out the final year of his deal, with Laporta taking matters into his own hands.
It is a call that has split Barcelona fans on social media.

Barcelona fans react to Xavi sacking
Sacking him for saying the truth about the club is wrong, very wrong.

Long overdue, should've never talked him into staying/changing his decision.
Get Flick w/ Torrent as assistant coach, get back to 1:1, overhaul the squad in the summer - and dominate.— Victor (@Victorious__108) May 17, 2024
Always knew Lieporta was a fraud
He was on his knees begging Xavi to stay months ago now he is sacking him for saying the truth about the club?— Dabira🥇✨ (@iamquadri10) May 17, 2024
In a way, I understand Laporta’s view on what Xavi said. You shouldn’t have a victim mentality regardless of the situation at the club. We are Barcelona, we have to always win no matter what. But Xavi was also speaking nothing but the truth. Regardless, there are pros/cons w Xavi

What is clear, though, is that Laporta finds himself squarely in the firing line, both for the nature of this decision and because of the manner in which Barcelona have been run under his stewardship in recent years.
The state of the club is absolutely laughable right now, I'm lost for words, the people are absolutely right in saying that it is a complete circus going on

Sack Xavi and then he can sack himself along with whole trash board...our club now is a big mess.....
— Vicenzo (@VicenzoCar) May 17, 2024
Laporta himself needs to leave. We were just a financial mess before, now we are a laughing stock and absolute joke of a club which wasnt the case before

Laporta and his board are bunch of frauds and they'll make this club irrelevant. The motion of "No Confidence" should be issued asap by socies before it's too late

Embarrasing from the club. You didn't respect his wish and convinced him because you're broke and can't get another good coach, and then you disrespect again by sacking him for saying what you've said all along? Laporta should be motioned out, this is outrageous. #LaportaOUT

The announcement of Xavi's departure is expected to be announced after Sunday's match with Rayo Vallecano, but this might just be the start of a longer political struggle at the club.
