Real Madrid rocked as injured star suffers major setback
Real Madrid have been told that one of the club’s leading stars faces a prolonged period of time on the sidelines due to injury.
Austria international defender David Alaba has suffered a setback in his return from an ACL injury, with the problem described as “one of the most complicated that a player can suffer”, according to Relevo.
The prognosis for the 32-year-old is not a positive one, despite the Bayern Munich star having already missed 10 months of action after being injured against Villarreal on 17 December, 2023.

Alaba had hoped to have been back in action by October, but he is going to miss this deadline – and according to the report, it is unlikely that he will be back on the field before 2025.
“The plan for David Alaba is for him to return to play for Real Madrid in January, just when the winter transfer market opens, in which Los Blancos have not planned to make any moves for the moment,” Relevo states.
“The centre-back will have been out of action of 13 months, more than a whole year out of the team.”
Alaba adds to injury headaches
There is, however, some room for optimism. Alaba’s training in recent weeks has been described as “encouraging”.
It is added: “He looks better and is starting to regain his form, although he still needs a couple of months to feel like an elite footballer again.”
Los Blancos have been hit with injury issues in their defence this season, with Dani Carvajal the latest to go down with an ACL injury. On top of this, Jacobo Ramon has suffered a string of muscular problems.
Alaba would, therefore, have been a useful player to have available during this busy period leading up to Christmas, in which Real Madrid will face Barcelona as well as Champions League matches against Dortmund, Milan and Liverpool.
