Sergio Aguero has suggested that Barcelona should sign Vinicius Junior in order to create a deadly duo with Spain wonderkid Lamine Yamal.

Vinicius is the runaway favourite to win the Ballon d’Or following his exploits for Real Madrid during the 2023-24 season, and Aguero would love to see the Brazilian join Los Blancos’ El Clasico rivals and link up with Yamal.

When asked which player he prefers, Aguero told Mundo Deportivo: “In terms of playing style, speaking of talent, Lamine has many more things than Vinicius, although the latter has more experience and is a better player with the titles he won with Madrid.

“Vinicius is one of the top three in the world, but due to age and talent, I prefer Lamine more. If it were up to me, I would have one on each side of my team and let the opponent pray.

“It's like when [Lionel] Messi and Neymar were together. Vinicius now has [Kylian] Mbappe at Madrid, but he is more of a nine and does not have Vinicius’ talent.”

Vinicius, 24, already has eight goals and seven assists in all competitions so far this season, including a stunning hat-trick during Real Madrid’s 5-2 Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Yamal has 12 goal contributions in 13 games as his stock continues to rise at Barcelona.

Lamine Yamal to link up with Vinicius Jr?

Despite Aguero’s suggestion that Vinicius and Yamal should join forces at club level, a move simply won’t happen.

Vinicius currently has a €1 billion release clause in his Real Madrid contract and it seems as though clubs in Saudi Arabia are the only ones who could prise him away from the Santiago Bernabeu as things stands.

As for Yamal, he will have just one year remaining on his Barcelona deal next summer, but the club are confident that he will extend his stay at Camp Nou.
