Kylian Mbappe has been told how to rediscover his form by Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti after a difficult spell for the forward.

Mbappe was criticised following Los Blancos’ 3-1 loss to AC Milan in the Champions League and was subsequently dropped by France for Nations League matches against Israel and Italy next week.

Fingers have been pointed at the summer arrival from PSG for the club’s general slump in form, but ahead of a LaLiga clash with Osasuna on Saturday at the Bernabeu, Ancelotti has defended the superstar.

“What more does Kylian Mbappe need to do? He is training really well. Not just him but everyone,” Ancelotti said.

“Yes, for now it is a difficult situation. We have to turn it around together. It's not just Kylian, all the players need to work to play to our full potential.”

When asked about Didier Deschamps deciding to leave Mbappe out of the France squad, he responded: “It’s not my decision. He is my player, he is motivated and working hard. He is disappointed with the results.”

Mbappe’s arrival has seen him play in his unfavoured centre-forward role with Vinicius Junior occupying his favoured spot on the left, but the Real Madrid boss says that is not about to change.

“Yes Vini Jr. can play great both on the side and from middle but I am not going to change his position. Our problem is not in attack but it's more about defence,” he said.

“Is Jude Bellingham playing closer to the goal the solution? I am not going to say our plans. I don't think we have any problem in final third but it's a defensive problem.

“We talked and analysed the situation. We think we have the solution, but now we have to show that on the pitch.”

Endrick issue addressed

Ancelotti also addressed the criticism that he has faced personally about failing to give youngsters Endrick and Arda Guler minutes.

The Real Madrid boss said: “He is ready to play if called. Nothing changed. He trains well. Same for Arda Güler. Two young good talented players. But the idea for now is to turn our situation around not hand out minutes.”

Following Saturday’s match with Osasuna, Real Madrid will have a two-week break to recuperate before trips to Leganes and Liverpool.
