The defender has been a free agent since his contract with Sevilla expired in the summer. At Boca, the Real Madrid legend would notably play alongside Marcos Rojo, Gary Medel and Edinson Cavani, among others.

The 38-year-old Spaniard completed a free transfer from PSG to Sevilla in the summer of 2023. Ramos played 37 games there last season, in which he scored no fewer than seven times and provided one assist.

Despite his successful second stint with the Andalusians, he decided not to extend his contract even though the club wanted to continue with him.

He has since been associated with clubs in MLS, the Saudi Pro League and the Serie A, but Ramos has not yet given a definitive answer about his future. He is currently staying in his residence in Madrid.

Ramos set for Boca move?

The defender regularly posts images of his workouts on social media, so it is likely that he is still in good shape. Indeed, it seems to be only a matter of time before he signs his next deal.

Boca Juniors is now being named the most likely destination for the veteran by Relevo. The 180-cap international has spoken to Boca president Juan Roman Riquelme on several occasions.

If the move is completed quickly enough, Ramos will be ready for the new season in Argentina, which starts in February. Ramos joked in the past in an interview that he would like to play for the Argentine top club.

He also added at the time that that would not be possible, because he would be sent off every game. At all his clubs, the four-time Champions League winner has received a total of 29 red cards.
