A second Spanish court has rejected Barcelona's appeal to extend the registration for Dani Olmo.

The Blaugrana's final legal avenue to get out of their registration mess has turned into a dead end. Last week, the Commercial Court 10 of Barcelona rejected the club's initial appeal for more time to make summer signing Olmo eligible for the second part of the campaign.

As is well-known by now, Olmo was only temporarily registered until December 31, with the club utilising an achilles injury suffered by Andreas Christensen to free up salary space for the Spaniard, while also offloading other players such as Clement Lenglent, Mika Faye and Vitor Roque.

However, Barcelona have since been unable to free up the necessary funds that would allow them to simply register Olmo beyond the end of the month, which has put them at risk of the player walking away for nothing in January due to a clause in his deal.

Now, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona's Court of First Instance 47 has also rejected Barcelona's appeal to extend the registration deadline into January, which would have allowed the club to free up funds via sales.

Barcelona still on course to register Olmo

Despite this new setback, which the Spanish outlet describes as the final legal avenue explored by Barcelona, the club are still expected to successfully register Olmo.

At the weekend, president Joan Laporta managed to close a deal in Dubai to sell off the VIP seats at the new Camp Nou, which has provided the club with the funds to register Olmo and young striker Pau Victor.

This decision still needs to be ratified by LaLiga, but the above-mentioned report does not express doubt that this will indeed materialise. Barcelona are expected to get the green light from the league shortly and subsequently register Olmo in time.
