Barcelona star’s wife demands divorce: I couldn’t even go out to buy dog food

Embattled Barcelona striker Vitor Roque’s wife Dayana Lins has revealed that she has asked for a divorce from her husband.

Vitor Roque moved to Barcelona last January in a deal brought forward by six months due to a barren spell in front of goal from Robert Lewandowski.

Barca beat a host of top European clubs to land the 19-year-old Brazilian, paying Athletico Paranaense €30 million to secure his services.

It was a deal that did not work out, though. Vitor Roque grew restless because Lewandowski started scoring again and he was unable to earn the first-team football he felt he deserved, and with the Poland star still in red-hot form he left to sign for Real Betis on loan in the summer.

Off the field, Vitor Roque now faces a personal crisis, with Dayana Lins, 25, taking to social media to announce that she wants to separate from the teenager she married in December 2023.

She announced her decision on Instagram, with Sport reporting that she said: “There were situations I was in, such as not knowing if I could eat what is in the fridge in my own home. I couldn’t go out to buy food for the dogs. I had to ask others to buy it.”

Real Betis make Vitor Roque transfer decision

On the field, Vitor Roque’s future is shrouded in uncertainty, with Real Betis having already come to the conclusion that they do not want to take up their option to sign the striker. Barcelona have previously told him he has no future at the club.

Roque has scored five goals in 25 appearances for Betis, and while this is not a disastrous return, the Seville club cannot justify spending €40 million on the Barca player when he has not been able to hold down a regular starting place under Manuel Pellegrini.

Barcelona are, therefore, set to have a problem come the summer when Vitor Roque is sent back to Camp Nou expecting first-team football.
