The 51-year-old has started divorce proceedings with his second wife Mariana Luccon, forcing him to retreat to the Ciudad Deportiva training ground of his former club in Valdebebas, according to Estadio Deportivo via Mundo Deportivo.

Fiesta has revealed that Roberto Carlos and Luccon, who is a physiotherapist, are set to separate after 15 years of marriage. The divorce, however, promises to be a complicated one due to the €160 million of assets the former footballer possesses.

Now the legendary left-back, who also turned out for Inter Milan during a storied playing career, has been left temporarily homeless because his wife and family are staying in one of his properties while his in-laws are at another.

A Real Madrid great

Roberto Carlos is one of the greatest left-backs in the history of football. Over the course of his career, he won 125 caps for Brazil and is remembered for an incredible free kick he scored against France in 1997. Such efforts became a trademark of the stocky defender.

Although he ultimately played for a number of teams, including Fenerbahce, Corinthians and Anzhi, he is best known for his time with Real Madrid, where he played from 1996-2007.

While with Los Blancos, he played 527 games, scoring 69 goals, and won four LaLiga titles and three Champions League crowns.
