Barcelona are poised to land a €25 million windfall with a transfer that is set to be completed rapidly.

Vitor Roque has been the subject of tremendous speculation since arriving at Camp Nou 13 months ago, with his brief and forgettable spell with the Blaugrana set to be brought to an abrupt end as Palmeiras close in on his signature.

The 19-year-old has spent the first six months of the season with Real Betis, and while there have been glimpses of his promise with the Seville club, there was never any serious question of them making his temporary move permanent.

With Vitor Roque occupying the role of regular substitute with the club, it appears that he is ready to leave. The arrival of Antony from Manchester United on a loan deal during the January transfer window has further squeezed his game time.

Vitor Roque: Deal to reach rapid conclusion

Sport reports that ‘Tigrinho’ is set to complete a €25m move back to Palmeiras by Monday, with the deal entering its decisive phase ahead of the close of the Brazilian transfer window on 28 February.

Leila Pereira, Palmeiras’ president, does not want to wait until the last minute for a deal to be completed and has put a 48-hour deadline on the move.

Palmeiras’ deal is the same as the one agreed with Real Betis at the start of the season. Vitor Roque will move for €25m while Barcelona will retain 20% of the player’s economic rights.

This means that any future fee obtained when the Brazilian side sell the teenager on will flow straight into the funds of the Camp Nou side.

For Vitor Roque, the prospect of moving back to his homeland is an attractive one.

Palmeiras have refused a loan deal because they want to make him integral to their project and have earmarked a long-term role as No.9 for him.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are not pushing Vitor Roque out, believing that he can still have a role to play in the future of the club, with the Blaugrana said to be open to any scenario.
