Lamine Yamal sparks contract PANIC at Barcelona

Barcelona have been forced into renegotiating their contract with Lamine Yamal amidst interest from the Premier League, Real Madrid and PSG, despite having reached a previous agreement with the young star.
Lamine will turn 18 in July, at which point he will become eligible to earn his first long-term contract and Barcelona are working hard to tie him down.

A deal had previously been struck that would have seen him double his wage, but since that agreement was reached, the profile of the teenager has only continued to rise.
Now Lamine wants to sit down at the negotiating table and thrash out a new contract, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Barcelona are under some pressure to get the deal done. All the big Premier League clubs, Real Madrid and PSG “continue to dream” of signing the player. With a contract that expires in 2026, the door has been pushed slightly ajar due to this showing of mild discontent.

Lamine is prepared to sign a new deal until 2030, but the wage in particular will need to be addressed.
Currently, the 17-year-old is the lowest-paid member of the Barcelona squad. While there is little clarity on what he currently earns, it is believed to have been around €1.5 million per year – potentially significantly less.
In January, it was reported by El Chiringuito that his new deal would be worth around €7-8m per year.
Based on Mundo Deportivo’s report, this is likely to have been off the mark at the time but could be in the region of what Lamine does end up signing.

Lamine Yamal: I’ll sign new Barcelona contract
Although Lamine is locked in talks with Barcelona over his new contract, he has pledged to sign one.
While rumours persist that Real Madrid or PSG could make a move to sign him, there is virtually no chance of this happening, based on the teenager’s comments.
“I don’t know when [the contract will be signed], but I believe it’ll be soon," Lamine said in January.
“In the end, Barca is the club of my life. I hope to renew my contract with them and to be with them as long as possible.
“I want to play in the Spanish league. I want to play for Barca, and yes, I will renew my contract. I will."
Lamine Yamal’s renewal with Barcelona is just a question of time.
