Man Utd were lucky to draw with Atalanta and must improve, admits Ronaldo

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that his side were ‘lucky’ in their 2-2 draw with Atalanta and still need to improve if they are going to turn their season around.
The Old Trafford side went behind on two occasions to their Italian hosts in Tuesday’s Champions League group stage clash and had to rely on a last-minute volley from Ronaldo to salvage a point and keep their European campaign on track.

The result means that Man Utd haven’t won two consecutive games since early September, with just three victories from their last nine games in all competitions.
And Ronaldo, who now has nine goals in 11 games for Man Utd since joining in the summer, was under no illusions that his side rode their luck against Atalanta and need to improve if they are to make anything of this season.

'We have time to improve and be better'
"It was a difficult game, I know when we play in Bergamo it is always difficult, but we believe until the end and I am so happy,” said Ronaldo in a post-match interview with BT Sport.
"We never give up, we believe until the end, it is a good result for us. The beginning was tough, we knew Atalanta would do a lot of pressure, they have a fantastic coach, when I played at Juventus they were always difficult to play against. We were a little bit lucky in the end but that is football.
"We believe until the end."

"We have to still improve, we have different players, different system, we have to adapt with each other, but it will take time. We have time to improve and be better."
While Ronaldo may be espousing hopeful messages, even he will wonder what lies in store for his team and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when they face Manchester City on Sunday.
Even if Man Utd can get through that clash in one piece they then need to face Villarreal, Chelsea and Arsenal in their next four games. Three tests that will demand the very best from this inconsistent side.
