The draw for the UEFA Champions League quarter-final and semi-final stage has taken place, with the highlight emerging as a tie between Chelsea and Real Madrid.

The last-16 stage has taken place over the last few weeks, with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Benfica all progressing.

There were some hugely entertaining ties in the last-16, with the biggest story probably emerging from the two legs between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG won the first leg 1-0 thanks to a goal from Kylian Mbappe, who also scored in the second leg at Santiago Bernabeu.

However, he was outshined by his compatriot Karim Benzema, who scored a fabulous hat-trick to send Real Madrid through.

Both Spain and England have three representatives in the quarter-final stage, with England dropping down from four after Manchester United were eliminated by Atletico Madrid.

The highlight of the quarter-final draw is undoubtedly the tie between Chelsea and Real Madrid, with the first leg set to take place at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are the defending champions and will need to bet at their very best to eliminate the most successful side in the history of the competition.

The winner of that tie will face the winner of Manchester City v Atletico in the semi-final.

Bayern Munich and Liverpool have been given favourable draws on paper, taking on Villarreal and Benfica respectively.

Where is the Champions League final being played?

The 2021/22 Champions League final will take place at Stade de France on 28 May 2022.

The final was previously set to take place in Saint Petersburg, but the fixture was moved due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
