Barcelona fans divided over Xavi sacking
Barcelona fans are divided almost entirely 50-50 over whether manager Xavi should be sacked following their Champions League elimination on Wednesday.
The Blaugrana were eliminated on Wednesday evening from Group C of the Champions League, finishing behind Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.
It was a truly humiliating outcome for Barcelona, who spent over €150 million in the summer in a bid to challenge for the Champions League title.

The likes of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde and many others were brought in at big expense.
However, Barcelona lost away to Bayern and Inter, drew with the Italians at home and only managed to beat Viktoria Plzen at Camp Nou.
Xavi poll results
FootballTransfers asked its Barcelona followers on Twitter whether Xavi should be sacked following this massive failure.
Should Barcelona sack Xavi if they get knocked out of the Champions League? 🤔
— Football Transfers (@Transfersdotcom) October 25, 2022
The results were extremely close, with 49.7 per cent saying that he should be sacked.
A very small majority of 50.3% voted that Xavi should stay in his job.
Xavi was appointed as Barcelona manager in November 2021 but was unable to stop them from being eliminated in the group stage of the Champions League last season also.
He then also fell well short in the Europa League knockouts as they were knocked out in the quarter-finals by eventual champions Frankfurt.
His best result was thrashing Real Madrid 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu in the Clasico earlier this year, but his time at Barcelona so far has not resulted in any tangible success in terms of trophies and tournament progression.
The pressure will now really be on Xavi following this failure, especially as Barcelona gambled their future by activating so many so-called ‘financial levers’ this summer.
This was dependent on Barcelona going deep in the Champions League in order to generate the required revenue, something they have failed to do this season.
