Donnarumma penalty shootout record in England

Donnarumma has played in three penalty shootouts in England; two at Euro 2020 and Tuesday’s Champions League match.

He has faced 12 penalties in those three shootouts and SEVEN of the spot-kicks have either been saved or missed.

Indeed, Donnarumma saved five of these missed penalties - with one hitting the post and another being skied over.

In the Euro 2020 semi-final, Italy defeated Spain 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Wembley. The Spaniards - coached by Donnarumma’s PSG manager Luis Enrique - missed two of their kicks. The goalkeeper saved from Alvaro Morata while Dani Olmo put his over.

In the Euro 2020 final, Italy beat England 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Wembley. The English missed their last three kicks, with Donarrumma saving from Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka after Marcus Rashford hit the post.

And then, on Tuesday, Donnarumma again came up big by saving two of Liverpool’s three penalties.

This means that the last six penalties taken against Donnarumma in shootouts in England, FIVE have not been scored.

The ex-AC Milan man has not always won over fans and the media for his overall game since joining PSG on a free transfer in 2021.

But standing at 6ft 5in with a huge wing span, there is certainly not a more daunting prospect than facing the Italian from the spot.

Donnarumma can already be considered one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time when it comes to penalty shootouts.
