Neymar cost over 10 times MORE than Rangers' entire squad
Rangers are on the cusp of a first European title since the 1972 Cup Winners' Cup, but they have made it to the Europa League final with a squad which cost more than 10 times less than Neymar!
Neymar cost Paris Saint-Germain a world record €222 million when they matched the Brazilian's release clause at Barcelona in 2017, but although he has hoovered up four Ligue 1 titles since, European silverware has eluded him.
Rangers still might go without - Eintracht Frankfurt are not to be written off in Wednesday's Europa League final in Seville - but they are one win away from achieving something the Neymar couldn't, for a fraction of the price.
FootballTransfers looks at the Rangers squad, putting some key performers prices into context...
Ryan Kent - £6.5m (Liverpool, 2019)
The most expensive member of the current Rangers squad at £6.5m, Ryan Kent has still played like a player worth easily twice as much this term, plundering 11 assists in all competitions including five in the Europa League. Primarily a left winger like Neymar, that's three more provisions than the Brazilian managed in all competitions this season.
James Tavernier - £200k (Wigan, 2015)
Tavernier boasts the most goals in the Europa League this term with seven, which is four more than Erling Haaland - soon to join Manchester City for €60m - managed on the continent with Borussia Dortmund this season.
Allan McGregor - Free transfer (Hull, 2018)
Still performing at 40, it is perhaps unsurprising that Rangers didn't have to fork out to bring McGregor back from Hull in 2018. But 15 clean sheets in a season isn't something the world's most expensive goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga (€80m from Athletic Bilbao), has managed in his last three seasons at Chelsea.
