Premier League stars dominate list of top 10 most valuable players
Seven of the top 10 most valuable players in the world belonged to Premier League clubs, according to a benchmark report by KPMG.
Although the impact of the COVID pandemic has meant that most players saw their value decrease, the top players in the sport still maintain remarkable value despite the financial constraints now placed on Europe’s biggest clubs.
KPMG, who use their own in-house algorithm to track the ever-changing values of Europe’s top 500 players, have now released their top 10 most valuable players for February 2021 and, as expected, the Premier League once again dominates.
The top 10 most valuable players in the world
Player | Value |
Kylian Mbappe | €185m |
Harry Kane | €125m |
Raheem Sterling | €125m |
Jadon Sancho | €118m |
Neymar | €115m |
Mohamed Salah | €115m |
Marcus Rashford | €115m |
Kevin de Bruyne | €114m |
Trent Alexander-Arnold | €111m |
Sadio Mane | €110m |
In first place is Paris Saint-German and Ligue 1 striker Kylian Mbappe, who has seen his value drop slightly but still stands at an impressive €185 million. Behind him in second and third place are Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, who are both valued at €125 million each.
The rest of the top five is made up of non-Premier League stars, with Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho coming fourth with a value of €118 million and PSG star Neymar sitting just below him on €115 million.
However, the rest of the top 10 is entirely made up of players based in England, with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (€115m), Marcus Rashford (€115m) of Manchester United , Kevin de Bruyne (€114m) of Man City and then Liverpool pair Trent Alexander-Arnold (€111m) and Sadio Mane (€110m) making up the rest of the top 10.
The report undoubtedly shows that while prices have fallen across the board, the Premier League can still boast to having the most stars across Europe’s top leagues – even if the very best players continue to elude the English top flight.
However, with Sancho being linked with a move to Man United and Mbappe possibly making his way to Liverpool one day, we could see the Premier League’s dominance only grow in the years to come.
