Messi completed a shock Bosman Transfer to PSG last summer after he was unable for legal and financial reasons to sign a new contract with Barcelona.

The Argentine superstar broke virtually every record possible during the 21 years he spent at Barca, including scoring an incredible 672 goals in 778 games.

However, Messi has struggled badly so far to replicate these kind of figures at the Parc des Princes.

He has scored just one Ligue 1 goal this season, although he does have five strikes in five games in the Champions League.

WHO ARE THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS IN THE WORLD?

And if Messi hoped that 2022 would bring better luck in Paris, he will have been mistaken after it was revealed on Sunday that he had tested positive for Coronavrius.

What did PSG say about Messi’s positive COVID test?

A PSG statement read: “Tests carried out during the winter break and before the resumption of training revealed four positive cases for Covid-19 among the players and one positive case among the staff.

“The four players who tested positive for Covid-19 are Leo Messi, Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico and Nathan Bitumazala. They are currently in isolation and are subject to the appropriate health protocol.”

PSG’s first two matches in 2022 are away games to Vannes in the Coupe de France on January 3 and then Lyon in Ligue 1 six days later.

Messi admitted recently that he has found it difficult to adapt to life in Paris after his summer move from Barcelona.

"It was a very big change after so much time in the same place, so it wasn't easy," Messi explained at the Dubai Expo 2020

"But, we're all doing well in what is a spectacular city and at one of the best teams in the world."
