Leonardo mocks Real Madrid over Mbappe transfer
PSG sporting director Leonardo has mocked Real Madrid and warned those who believe that Kylian Mbappe has already signed for the Blancos.
It is widely believed that Mbappe is set to join Real Madrid this summer on a Bosman transfer when his contract at PSG expires.
The 23-year-old has repeatedly rejected offers of an extension at the Parc des Princes, although he has repeatedly insisted that he has not yet decided whether to stay or leave.
“In Madrid they have been sure that he will end up at Real Madrid. Maybe they are too sure of it,” Leonardo laughed.
“The discussions have always been there. There were discussions in Doha.
“Kylian talks, he talks with us. What he says is the truth. He still hasn’t decided. I think that the possibility of him staying exists. The possibility of him going exists too, but I think that he is still reflecting, he is seeing that things change.”
Mbappe attempted to push through a €150 million-plus move last summer to Madrid, the club he supported as a kid.
The transfer didn’t go through but it has for some months now been accepted that Mbappe will move to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season for free.
WHO ARE THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS IN THE WORLD?
Mbappe has not yet signed officially for Madrid.
The forward signed for PSG from Monaco in a €180m deal in 2017, joining the same summer as Neymar, who transferred for a world record €222m.
Mbappe has won four Ligue 1 titles during his time at the club, as well as the World Cup for the France national team.
On Saturday, Mbappe claimed what could be his final league title in Paris following a 1-1 draw with Lens.
